To create your character, you must purchase attributes, skills, qualities, equipment, and contacts using Build Points (BP). Due to changes in skills and equipment, you will have 420 BP instead of the normal 400. Most other character creation rules are the same.
- You may not spend more than half your total BP on your eight primary attributes. Edge, Magic, and Resonance are exempt from this limit.
- You cannot spend more than 30 BP on positive qualities or gain more than 30 BP from negative qualities.
- You may not spend more than 50 BP on equipment and money.

All metatypes are allowed as long as any BP cost is paid. Remember, though, that you will be working directly for or affiliated with the Nymsilet mob family, one with a strong racist preference for elf metatypes.

Attributes normally range from rating 1 (minimum) to rating 6 (maximum). Modifiers from metatypes apply to an attribute’s minimum and maximum values; they are not bonus ratings. (A penalty to an attribute does not lower the minimum rating below 1.) When increasing an attribute rating, you must pay 10 BP per 1 rating. Increasing its rating to maximum instead requires 25 BP. You cannot spend more that 210 BP to increase your 8 primary attributes. Edge, Magic, and Resonance are not included in this limitation.
All skills begin at rating 0 and have a maximum of rating 6. For each type of skill (active, knowledge, and language), you can only raise one skill to rating 6 or raise two skills to rating 5 (one or the other). All other skills of the same type are limited to rating 4 during character creation. Furthermore, you are not allowed to increase any skill above rating 4 through the purchase of a skill group; you must purchase rating 5 or 6 for a skill individually. Again, this only applies during character creation.
Automatic Points: You will begin play with rating 4 in the English language skill. Additionally, you have a number of free points to distribute to knowledge and language skills equal to ( Intuition + Logic ) × 2. These points may increase any knowledge or language skill rating at a 1-to-1 ratio, but cannot be used to increase any skill above rating 4. Alternatively, you may purchase knowledge specializations or language dialects which cost 1 point each. You must still have at least rating 1 in a skill to buy specializations or dialects.
You are still subject to the normal limit of 30 BP spent for positive qualities and 30 BP gained from negative qualities.
Each BP is worth 1,000 credits. You cannot spend more than 50 BP for credits, equipment, and possessions combined. This limit also includes your lifestyle.
Availability: I am handling starting availability much differently than normal conventions. To determine what you have access to, you have an availability pool. Each item you acquire reduces your pool by that item’s availability. Just note that I am upgrading items in Shadowrun, so availability ratings will change.
- You are allowed any number of legal items so long as no individual item’s availability is higher than 12.
- You are allowed a number of restricted items up to a sum of 32R, where no individual item may be higher than 8R.
- You are allowed a number of forbidden items up to a sum of 16F, where no individual item may be higher than 6F.
Depending on your character build and backstory, I am more than willing to allow exceptions. I expect you to present a valid justification for any exceptions you may want, but I won’t know what changes to these limitations you want unless you ask.
